Pavement Maintenance Rehab

While the city tries to minimize the impact of this work on residents, some disruption is inevitable. If you live along these routes, you will be notified about the work in advance.  On the days work is scheduled, vehicles and other objects will need to be cleared from the street.  Remember, wet weather and other factors can cause delays. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes while paving work is in progress. 

The streets listed here are on the schedule:

  • Durham Rd (72nd to Boones) Paving: Complete

  • Scoffins (Main to Ash) Paving: Complete

  • Ventura Place / Ventura Drive Curbs: Complete

  • Ventura Place / Ventura Drive Paving: Completed

  • Canterbury Ln (99 to 106th) Ramp Work: Completed

  • Gaarde St (128th to 121st): Backfill ramps Completed

Frequently Asked Questions

How will the paving work affect me?
  • Expect traffic delays, detours and construction noise.
  • On-street parking will be prohibited in the work zone.
  • Access and residences may be blocked for about an hour.
  • Please keep clear of the work zone.
What if I need to drive somewhere?

The contractor will work on one lane at a time while keeping the other open to traffic. The contractor will typically work in front of a driveway for about an hour. Community members will be able to get in and out of their driveways during the project but may experience a slight delay if the contractor is working in front of their home or business. Contractors are able to work with community members to get vehicles in and out with minimal wait.

What if there is an emergency?

Should an emergency arise, emergency vehicles will be given access to the street.

What does pavement maintenance include?

Regular maintenance on busy streets to repair fair/poor Tigard streets is required to maintain our pavement condition.

Steps could include but not limited to:

  1. Repairing or rebuilding curb ramps along pavement area
  2. Grinding the existing asphalt to match curb lines and end joints
  3. Grinding down existing pavement through to Subgrade to recompact and rebuild
  4. Cleaning the street of dirt and debris
  5. Placing a tack coat, or sticky material to existing pavement to ensure bond to new pavement layers
  6. Adjusting manholes and valve covers to the new elevation in case of overlay
  7. Placing the new asphalt
  8. Allowing the asphalt to cool and set
  9. Restriping the road
