Social Services at Tigard Public Library
The Library Social Services Coordinator is here to help with support for food, clothing, public benefits, education, housing, or mental health services!
The Library Social Services Coordinator offers free social service information and referrals*. Our staff can meet with community members, approach their needs without judgement, and help find where to go for shelter, food, showers, mental health services, legal help, and more.
Get connected with Social Services Coordinator Ryn Starr during their drop-in hours: Tuesdays 10 AM-12 PM and Thursdays 11 AM-1 PM, or by emailing ryn.starr@tigard-or.gov, or calling 971-495-1179.
Basic Needs Bookshelf
The Basic Needs Bookshelf offers library visitors access to basic needs items including water, snacks, menstrual products, socks, hygiene items, and more while our Social Services Coordinator supports them in getting connected to community resources.
The Basic Needs Bookshelf is meant to assist in meeting short-term needs while community members are gaining access and referrals to community organizations. These items are not intended to provide long-term support.
The Basic Needs Bookshelf is gearing up for winter! As the weather cools, we are looking for donations of socks, gloves, hats, and hand warmers, along with our regular basic needs items to support our community members in need. The Basic Needs Bookshelf is stocked entirely by donations. Support for the Basic Needs Bookshelf can be provided via our Amazon Wishlist, or by coordinating a donation with our Social Services Coordinator directly at ryn.starr@tigard-or.gov or 971-495-1179.
*Receiving support from Tigard Public Library's Social Services Coordinator does not establish a social worker-client relationship. Tigard Public Library does not offer case management or extensive follow-up services. We will try our best to get you connected to any resource we know of that could suit your needs.
