The Building Division works to maintain the health and safety of the Tigard community by ensuring property owners, developers, and trade workers comply with state and local building codes. The division is managed by the Building Official and is comprised of plans examiners, building inspectors, permit technicians, and support staff.

The Building Division reviews and issues building permits for residential and commercial building projects, including new construction, interior remodels, additions, and demolitions. The division also reviews and issues trade permits for plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, and solar installation work.

Address Requirement:

• If your project will create the need for new or modified street addresses or commercial suite numbers, you must submit an Address Application with the required documentation and fee. The new addresses or suite numbers must be active in the system before the city can accept your building permit application.
