Everbridge is an emergency notification service that allows emergency officials to notify residents, community members and businesses by telephone, cell phone, text message, email and social media regarding time-sensitive general and emergency notifications. Messages are shared using the emergency communication network system.  Tigard will use Everbridge for any message concerning the safety, property or welfare of the community. Messages may include AMBER alerts, notifications of hazardous traffic or road conditions, boil water advisories or evacuation notices. Registration is confidential and free. Personal information will not be shared or sold to third parties.

Tigard Emergency Alerts Transition FAQs

▶  What is changing?

Beginning July 20, the City of Tigard is switching from CodeRED to Everbridge, a new emergency notification system. Everbridge will be used to send emergency alerts and other important public safety information to residents, businesses and visitors.

▶  Why did I receive a text message or email?

If you previously signed up for Tigard emergency alerts through CodeRED and provided an email address your contact information was securely transferred to Everbridge.

You'll receive an email message inviting you to activate your account and confirm that your contact information and notification preferences are up to date.

If you previously signed up for Tigard emergency alerts through CodeRED and did not provide an email address you will receive a text message asking you to register.

▶  Is the email or text message legitimate?

Yes. On July 20, former CodeRED subscribers will receive an email or text message from Everbridge.

The email will come from noreply@everbridge.com and the text message will include a link to complete your account setup.

The text message will come from “38671”.

▶  Should I click the link in the email or text message?

Yes. The link is safe to use and allows you to verify your contact information and choose how you would like to receive emergency alerts. If you prefer, please visit www.tigard-or.gov/EA and register with the provided link.

If you received both an email and a text message, we recommend using the email link, since it is personalized with your existing account information.

▶  What if I'm unsure whether the message is real?

Never provide financial information, passwords or unrelated personal information.

Everbridge will only ask for the information needed to manage your emergency alert account.

If you'd rather not use the link in the message, you can visit tigard-or.gov/Emergency-Alerts and sign in or create your account there.

▶  Do I need to sign up again?

If you already had a CodeRED account with an email address your information has been transferred automatically.

You still need to activate your Everbridge account to verify your information and select your notification preferences. An email address is required to create an Everbridge account, even if you only want to receive phone calls or text messages.

▶  What happens if I don't activate my account?

Your transferred contact information may still receive alerts, but you won't be able to easily update your information or choose how you'd like to be notified.

Activating your account helps ensure you receive emergency notifications quickly, in your preferred language and manner, and through your preferred contact methods.

▶  I never had a CodeRED account. Can I still sign up?

Yes. Anyone can sign up for Tigard emergency alerts beginning July 20 by visiting: tigard-or.gov/Emergency-Alerts

▶  What kinds of alerts will I receive?

Tigard may send alerts for situations such as:

• Boil water advisories
• Severe weather
• Fires
• Flooding
• Police activity affecting public safety
• Other emergencies or critical incidents

▶  Can I update my information or stop receiving alerts?

Yes. After creating your Everbridge account, you can update your contact information, change your notification preferences or unsubscribe at any time.
