PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project will install a drainage system underneath the roadway on Ash Drive to mitigate high groundwater levels that have caused potholes in the road and prevent future premature asphalt failure. The new drainage system will connect to new and existing storm drains to drain groundwater away from the area. The roadway in the project area will also be repaved. Funds from the Pipeline Renewal and Replacement Program are being used to replace the existing water main in the project area.
WHY IT’S NEEDED: SW Ash Drive has a heavily damaged area of pavement due to poor subsurface drainage and high groundwater levels in the area. The damaged pavement extends from the SW Ash Avenue intersection to approximately 350 feet northwest on Ash Drive. The water main in the project area was also identified for replacement as part of the Pipeline Renewal and Replacement Program due to its material and age.
TIMELINE: Construction is expected to be complete in Fall 2024.
FUNDING SOURCE: Stormwater Fund and Water Fund
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE COSTS: The project will result in a net decrease in operations costs due to less pavement maintenance being required in the area.
STRATEGIC PLAN TIE-IN: This project supports the fourth goal to “fund the vision while maintaining core services” as it will permanently address a maintenance issue that has caused poor roadway conditions.
