From plans to construction, explore some of the city's current projects!

Project Description

This project involves the design, construction, and installation of a neighborhood park off of Greenburg Road in an underserved area that is lacking parks. The property was purchased in 2013 with funding from the 2010 Park Bond. A conceptual plan has been created to guide the development of the park. Some of the key findings of the plan include:
  •  There are three dominant traits of the site: a small grove of mature deciduous trees, an open meadow, and the Ash Creek stream corridor with its associated pond and wetlands.
  • About an acre of this 8.25-acre future neighborhood park could be developed. The rest of the site, which comprises a small creek and wetlands, will remain green space.
  • The site is best suited for small group activities and passive recreation.

TIMELINE: FY23-29

* Bagan Park construction has been put on hold until 2028. Clean Water Services has a project that will go through the Bagan Park property. After much consideration, the project team decided it would be best to delay the project until Clean Water Services has completed their project to avoid removal of new amenities.

FUNDING SOURCES: Metro Local Share; Parks System Development Charges Fund

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE COSTS: This new facility will require additional staffing for ongoing operations and maintenance.

WHY IT’S NEEDED: We're working to provide equity in park services across the city by providing a high quality and well-maintained park within a 10-minute walk of all residents. This new park will serve a gap area identified in the Parks System Plan.

STRATEGIC PLAN TIE-IN: Advances our vision of becoming a walkable, healthy and accessible community for everyone.
