Project Description
This project will replace the existing bridge with a new bridge wide enough to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists (on both sides) along with vehicles. Environmental regulations will require a new bridge to be significantly higher and longer than the current bridge, which may necessitate some rework of the existing Fanno Creek Trail just west of the bridge.
Project Update
Design and permitting activities are underway. The right-of-way and easement acquisition phase is anticipated to begin in late 2025.
Why It's Needed
The bridge structure has deteriorated and needs to be replaced. There is a lack of bike lanes on the bridge and a wooden walkway on only one side.
Funding Sources
Gas Tax and a combination of City Gas Tax, Transportation System Development Charges (SDC), and Stormwater, Sanitary Sewer, and Water Funds.
Operations and Maintenance Impact
Increased pavement area and striping maintenance, reduced bridge maintenance.
