Project Description
The Red Rock Creek Stabilization and Enhancement project will provide stream enhancements and long-term stabilization to Red Rock Creek from just downstream of Southwest Dartmouth Street upstream to SW 72nd.
Timeline
July 2025: Contractors will be preparing the site by removing required trees and debris from the work area.
August-September 2025: Stream improvements will be taking place near Costco and Winco. There will also be culvert rehabilitation work on Dartmouth Street.
September- November 2025: Sanitary sewer realignment and box culvert construction will be taking place in the former Tigard cinema site.
June-September 2026: Steam improvements will be taking place in the former Tigard cinema site.
End of September 2026: Project completed.
Why It's Needed
The portion of Red Rock Creek located in the Tigard Triangle area has experienced hydromodification from past development resulting in severe erosion and incision. This erosion and incision, in some areas up to 25 feet deep, has resulted in a sanitary sewer line being exposed and has caused multiple line breaks requiring extensive repairs. Eroded sediment has also settled in areas from just upstream of Southwest Dartmouth downstream to the confluence of Fanno Creek, resulting in the degradation of wetlands and localized flooding at Southwest Dartmouth. Development in the Tigard Triangle and Hunziker area will add stormwater runoff and contribute to the degradation of the creek and its floodplain.
Strategic Plan Tie-In
This project relates to Objective 3.2, Action F of the Strategic Plan by protecting and restoring the ecological function of Red Rock Creek.

Sanitary Sewer, Stormwater, and Urban Renewal funds.
