Project Description

This project design takes into consideration the community and lands through which it passes to provide off-street parking for park users on a developable portion of the site. The parking lot will include natural landscaping, an accessible pathway to the Fanno Creek trail and lighting.

Dirksen Nature Park pathway

TIMELINE: This project was completed in the summer of 2023.

FUNDING SOURCE: Parks System Development Charges (SDC) Fund

PLAN DOCS:  Dirksen Nature Park Trail & Parking Lot Improvements Plans

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE COSTS: The Streets Division will sweep and maintain the new lot.

WHY IT’S NEEDED: Parking is limited on Tigard Street and the growing popularity of Dirksen Nature Park means it’s attracting an increasing number of users. The parking lot will provide parking for visitors and those driving to enjoy the Fanno Creek Greenway.

STRATEGIC PLAN TIE-IN: Advances our vision to become a walkable, healthy and accessible community for everyone.
