From plans to construction, explore some of the city's current projects!

This facility filters stormwater runoff to protect your neighborhood stream

Project Description

In FY19-20, an assessment was completed of aging water-quality facilities in Tigard. The plan evaluated the condition of the 25 oldest or most ineffective facilities. It identified needed repairs and prioritized the projects for rehabilitation. It was discovered that a number of the repairs needed on these facilities are within the skill set of Green Team staff while others require more than $50,000 in repair costs and will need to become separate capital projects.

Timeline

Ongoing yearly funded program.

Why It's Needed

We maintain more than 240 stormwater treatment facilities across the city. About 35 to 50% of those have reached an age at which significant work is needed to re-establish effective stormwater treatment. Problems vary by facility but include:

(1) significant silt buildup;

(2) overgrown vegetation;

(3) facilities that need replanting; and

(4) lost function from erosion, burrowing rodents, structural damage, and other factors.

These facilities are the last line of defense between urban runoff and our streams. They are important in keeping our environment healthy.

Operation and Maintenance Costs

 This program provides funds for our internal crews to make repairs to existing stormwater quality facilities. The work completed under this program does not increase operating and maintenance costs and could reduce these costs over the long run.
