The Tigard Police Department is&nbsp;leading another women's self-defense class for ages 18+. Registration is required and participants must be Tigard Residents.</p><p><strong>Date:</strong> Saturday, May 2nd, 2026<br><strong>Time:</strong>&nbsp;8:00AM to 10:00AM<br><strong>Location:</strong> Tigard Public Works (8777 SW Burnham St.)<br><strong>Cost:</strong> FREE</p><p>&nbsp;<strong>*REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.</strong></p><p>We look forward to accepting 16 students and will waitlist 4 people who fill out this form.&nbsp;An email confirmation or waitlist notification will be sent after processing, subject to space availability.&nbsp;</p><p><br /></p><hr><p><br /></p><p>During this class, students will learn about identifying risks, healthy relationships and general safety information.</p><p>They will also be introduced to basic self-defense tactics using their voices, strikes and kicks.</p><p>A portion of this class involves instruction on verbal techniques that are vital skills for self-defense. “Many women are taught to be polite and criticized when they speak up and assert themselves,” says Detective Kristan Rinell who instructs the class. “My goal is for students to leave the class knowing that they have a voice and feeling more comfortable using it.”&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Questions, or requesting an accommodation for a disability?
