City of Tigard

Parks and Recreation

Tigard Parks & Rec Mission
“We exist to provide healthy and diverse recreational opportunities through programs, events, parks, and natural areas, for all ages and abilities, ensuring that the City of Tigard is a desirable place to live and play.”

Finding Frosty and Friends in Summerlake ParkSnowman Contest at Summerlake Park
Tigard did not have a white Christmas this year but that didn’t stop snowmen from visiting Summerlake Park. Frosty the Snowman and his four friends hid throughout the park as part of the Snowman Scavenger Hunt.

The mission for those who chose to accept it was to find each snowman and take a picture with each one. Within 24 hours of the beginning of the hunt, ten people had successfully completed the mission. A week later, more than 30 people had completed the mission. You can check out some of the winners on the city’s Facebook page

Each winner received an exclusive winter prize package. Here’s what some of the winners thought about the Scavenger Hunt.

  • "It was awesome, my girls had so much fun. Thank you and the city for doing fun activities,” Brandon
  • “What a beautiful day to be out at Summerlake! Thank you,” Shawne
  • “Thanks all! We had such a fun morning! What a great idea,” Laura
  • “Thank you! This got us out of the house before the rain arrived,” Julia
  • “What fun! My kids had fun running around Summerlake looking for your snowman. Thanks for letting us play,” Jen
  • “My kids loved this and we appreciate you putting this up! Thank you so much,” Aubrey

In the lead up to April’s Egg Hunt, the community will have another chance to learn about one of the city’s parks while searching for golden eggs.
