Will You Get the Call?
Register Today!
Getting the word out about an emergency is essential to public safety. Tigard’s new
CodeRED emergency notification system can do just that. By phone, the system can
provide Tigard businesses and residents with up-to-the-minute information on utility
outages, missing persons, fires, evacuations, floods, bomb threats, hostage situations,
or other emergencies.
Using high-speed telecommunications, the notification system can make up to 100,000
phone calls an hour, or about 1,600 calls per minute. This means every household
and business within the city could be notified in less than 30 minutes. Calls would
deliver a recorded message about the emergency and what action call recipients
should take to ensure their safety. The notification can be citywide or can target
a specific geographic area within Tigard.
Take Time to Register
Most businesses and residents with published telephone numbers will already be
in the system. Businesses and residents with non-published numbers, cell phone
numbers, Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), or recently acquired numbers
are encouraged to register their address and phone number.
Registration is confidential and free.
Tigard residents can
register on-line or by contacting Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Lueck at 503-718-2593.
