National Night Out

Tuesday, August 2, 2011: National Night Out!
On Tuesday, August 2nd, neighborhoods throughout Tigard are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the annual National Night Out (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. The event will involve over 10,000 communities from all 50 states. In all, over 34 million people are expected to participate. Some Tigard residents already have plans underway to participate.

Neighborhoods in Tigard are encouraged to host a function that will bring residents out of their homes and together. Some neighborhoods around Tigard will be hosting a block party and a cookout. Others are organizing a dessert potluck. Be creative and do something that will be fun and celebratory. A representative from each Tigard neighborhood is encouraged to register their event with the Tigard Police beginning July 1st. A printable registration form is available here. Registration also sets in place visits by police and fire personnel to your neighborhood celebration.

The tradition continues this year with Target as the national sponsor for National Night Out 2011. A kick-off for the event will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Target Store located at 9000 SW Hall Blvd. in Tigard. Pre-registered neighborhoods can send their representatives to pick up the free "party packs" Target will be providing. The giveaway is intended to provide all the organized neighborhood events a jump start. Be sure to register and reserve your bag of goodies!

Begin making plans now with your neighbors to make the event as successful as possible. Let's all give crime and drugs "a going-away party in Tigard." Further information can be obtained by calling 503-718-2561.

If you need more help or suggestions in planning your event, call 503-718-2561 during normal business hours. You can also learn more information and ideas about National Night Out by visiting www.NATW.org.
