Meet the Chief

Chief Alan Orr
Chief Orr came to the City of Tigard Police Department as Captain in 2002, was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2003 and was then promoted to Chief of Police on 11/24/09.

Prior to joining the City of Tigard Police Department, Chief Orr was employed by the Portland Police Bureau for 32 years and held many assignments including every promotional rank up to the rank of Deputy Chief.

Chief Orr was born and raised in the Portland metro area. He attended Portland Public Schools and graduated from Jefferson High School. Chief Orr served in the Army and is a Vietnam War veteran.

Chief Orr's educational achievements include a Bachelors degree from Portland State University and a Masters degree from the University of Portland. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Secret Service Dignitary Protection School.

Chief Orr places significant importance on Tigard area youth. As a result, Tigard police can provide quality, results-oriented youth programs to Tigard youth. These programs enable our youth to contribute to the community while learning the importance of growing into solid citizens.
