Meet the Chief

Chief William Dickinson
Chief William Dickinson phone: 503-718-2572
e-mail: chiefbill@tigard-or.gov
Chief Dickinson came to Tigard as a 29 year law enforcement veteran from Washington State. Chief Dickinson most recently served as the Police Chief for the City of Burien as well as a King County Precinct Commander. Chief Dickinson has served in just about every capacity of law enforcement including K-9, SWAT, Narcotics and Investigations.

Chief Dickinson brings a wealth of law enforcement experience as he continues his commitment to maintaining Tigard as a quality city. The Chief holds strictly the community policing philosophy and will continue to emphasize the importance of the police and community working together to solve problems.

Chief Dickinson also places significant importance on Tigard area youth. As a result, Tigard police can provide quality, results-oriented youth programs to Tigard youth. These programs enable our youth to contribute positively to the community while learning the importance of growing into solid citizens.

Further, Chief Dickinson has brought increased technology to the department as well; in efforts to better serve the citizens of Tigard. Updated computers, patrol vehicle video, improved training and an emphasis on improved communications between citizens and police are also associated with Chief Dickinson's forward thinking.
