Tigard Bank Robbed by Armed Man
At 5:35 p.m. on Monday, October 22, a lone man entered the Chase Bank located 11354 SW Durham Rd. in Tigard and allegedly made a demand for money, but not before ordering all the customers and bank employees to lay face down on the floor. The suspect wore a mask over his face made from a tee-shirt with holes cut out for eyes and displayed a handgun while proceeding to demand money from a bank employee. While on the way out of the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect demanded car keys from one of the customers. The suspect then drove away from the bank parking lot in the stolen vehicle. Tigard Police arrived within minutes, secured the bank and began containment while investigators worked to obtain witness statements. Tigard Officers along with assistance from neighboring police agencies scoured the neighborhoods near the bank and worked to gather possible witness information to the incident and getaway. There were 5 employees and 5 customers including a child inside the bank at the time of the robbery. No one was injured.

Within minutes police located the stolen vehicle which had been abandoned about one-quarter mile from the bank. Police conducted a K-9 search from the recovered vehicle location however no suspect was located. Tigard Police and the FBI continued the investigation throughout the evening.

The suspect is described as a white male adult, medium build, 5'9" to 5'11" tall, weighing approximately 170-190 pounds. Witnesses recall the suspect wearing a dark colored sweatshirt possibly with a hood, a knit cap, jeans and dark boots.

If anyone has information regarding the incident they are asked to contact the Tigard Police Department at 503-639-6168.
