Tigard's New Burnham Street Wins National Project of the Year Award The City of Tigard has earned a top national engineering honor for excellence in project management for the New Burnham Street project. Each year, the American Public Works Association (APWA) honors transportation projects from around the United States. Tigard won the 2012 APWA Project of the Year Award for a transportation project in the $5 to $25 million cost division. "Our project was reviewed by experts from across the country and was found to be among the best in the nation. We are pleased to be recognized for our commitment to deliver excellence in public works project management for the citizens of Tigard," says Dennis Koellermeier, City of Tigard public works director. New Burnham Street is Tigard's first "green street," with advanced stormwater treatment planters and sidewalks and pedestrian amenities - benches, new street lights, street trees and landscaped gateways. The project also expanded and improved Tigard's popular Ash Avenue Dog Park and provided better access to TriMet's Park & Ride facility. |
