A man called 9-1-1 at 11:12 a.m. on Tuesday to allege being stabbed along with another man. The victim advised police that the incident occurred near a bus shelter at the corner of Pacific Highway and Walnut Place in Tigard. Tigard Police arrived on scene within moments and began to render aid. Both victims were then transported by ground to OHSU. In the meantime, additional Tigard Police officers along with assistance from neighboring agencies including Tualatin Police and the Washington County Sheriff's Office began to contain the area. Witnesses immediately stepped forward and provided pivotal observations which led police to focus their search for the suspect in an area to the southeast of the crime scene. Within the hour, a Beaverton Police Department K-9 located the suspect attempting to be concealed within a heavily vegetated area adjacent to a rental property along Frewing St. which is just several blocks from the crime scene. The suspect armed with a knife, failed to comply to police instructions for surrender. A Tigard Officer successfully deployed a taser which allowed officers to move-in and take the suspect into custody without any further incident. The suspect's name is not available at this point however likely to be lodged in the Washington County Jail later today. The suspect is presently being treated medically for an unrelated condition. At this time the condition of the two victims is unknown. Initial information had indicated that the injuries were non-life threatening. Soon after the double-stabbing incident was reported, police dispatchers received a call reporting a menacing with a knife at a location approximately one block away from where the first incident occurred. The menacing incident reportedly took place near the Walnut Deli located at 9930 SW Walnut St. in Tigard. Tigard Police Officers were quickly on-scene and worked to identify that there was no connection to the double-stabbing which took place only minutes prior. Tigard Police were able to quickly investigate and arrest the suspect involved in the alleged menacing. No one was injured in this separate incident. |
