Tigard Seeks Comments on Pacific Hwy (99W) Intersection Improvements The City of Tigard and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) are considering several designs to improve traffic congestion and safety where McDonald and Gaarde Streets intersect with Pacific Highway/99W. People can view the designs and provide comments through a virtual "open house." Design options include widening the McDonald and Gaarde Street approaches and adding various through lanes and turn lanes on Pacific Highway. Comments will be summarized and presented to the Tigard City Council this spring, when a final design will be selected. Actual construction is still a few years out. When surveyed about city services and livability, Tigard residents consistently identify traffic congestion as the single most important issue the city faces. The city and ODOT recently completed other intersection improvements at Pacific Highway and Hall Boulevard and at Pacific Highway and Greenburg Road/Main Street. The improvements have significantly reduced traffic congestion at these locations. |
