A Tigard man called 9-1-1 at approximately 8:50 a.m. on December 5th alleging he interrupted a burglary at his home located along Hawks Beard St. and was held at gunpoint by a man and woman. A Tigard Police Officer who happened to be in the area on patrol spotted the two suspects in a red, older model Nissan Maxima parked near the Summer Creek Apartments. The Tigard Officer approached and gave commands to the suspects however the male suspect jumped into the passenger seat of the vehicle and the female driver sped off. Two Tigard Police vehicles began to follow the suspects who attempted to elude police. Along the way, the suspect vehicle had collided into a pickup near the intersection of SW 121st and Scholls Ferry Rd. in Tigard. The pickup driver was not injured and the collision temporarily disabled the suspect vehicle. As a Tigard Officer approached the suspect vehicle the engine was restarted and the suspects departed. The pursuit traveled through Tigard, Beaverton and ended in Portland on Corbett Ave. near I-5 where the suspects had crashed into a landscaping barrier. Neither suspect was injured. Both suspects were taken into custody. Police seized numerous items of value from the suspect’s vehicle which were taken in the burglary. Information obtained by police indicates that the victim had returned home just several minutes after leaving to retrieve a forgotten item. Once inside his apartment he was confronted by the pair. The male suspect placed a gun to the victim’s torso and ordered around the apartment while the female suspect continued to remove property from the unit. Minutes later the victim was freed and the suspects fled. The victim ran outside, spotted the Tigard Officer and relayed what just occurred and pointed out the suspect vehicle. The suspects taken into custody are Beverly Rose Alcorn DOB 051585 and Cody J. Connel DOB 111584. They will be lodged in the Washington County Jail on initial charges of Robbery, Burglary and Kidnapping. Other charges including traffic related offenses will likely follow. Tigard Police detectives are continuing the investigation. |
