Tigard Police to Host Pharmaceutical Drug Take-Back Event in October In the continuing effort to eliminate unused and unwanted pharmaceutical drugs in our community, Tigard Police, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is conducting a "Pharmaceutical Drug Take-Back Day." This is the third take-back event for Tigard. The previous two events have yielded over 1200 pounds of unwanted pharmaceuticals. Tigard Police encourage participation to help reduce the illegal use and dangers of prescription drugs to those other than whom it was intended. This opportunity also helps to reduce unwanted contaminants into the water and ground that can occur from improperly disposing of pharmaceutical drugs. Please mark your calendar for Saturday, October 29, 2011. A drop-off center will be in the parking lot of Tigard City Hall located at 13125 SW Hall Blvd. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m. The event in Tigard will be one of hundreds across the United States. What to bring?
We cannot accept thermometers, syringes or needles, medical waste, illegal drugs (such as marijuana or methamphetamine), IV solutions, lotions or creams. Also, medications from nursing homes, doctors' offices or any type of medical facility or business will not be accepted. |
