Tigard Council Names Exemplary Citizen
The Tigard City Council named Jane Davies as its 2011 Exemplary Citizen at the business meeting on April 19, 2011. Mayor Craig Dirksen said, "This award recognizes the contributions made by extraordinary city volunteers. Ms. Davies earned it for the energy and enthusiasm she contributes to the enrichment of our community and her tireless volunteer energy for community events and programs."

Davies was nominated by Tigard resident Karen Draper. She cited Davies' multiple volunteer commitments dedicated to bringing residents together and defining the community. They include:

Organizing the annual downtown Holiday Tree lighting ceremony for the last four years
Serving as co-administrator of the city's Neighborhood Network Area 11 blog site
Volunteering for her condominium community's Architectural Review Committee
Teaming with the Tigard Police Youth Program to develop a music in the park program
Supporting and advocating for Tigard businesses through the Tigard Chamber of Commerce

Davies will be honored at the Tigard Chamber of Commerce annual Shining Star Community Awards Banquet on May 7, 2011 at the Embassy Suites in Tigard.
