Prescription Drug Turn-in Event Scheduled For April
In the continuing effort to eliminate unused and unwanted pharmaceutical drugs in our community, Tigard Police, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is conducting a "Pharmaceutical Drug Take-Back Day." Tigard Police invite you to participate in this locally held event to help reduce the illegal use and dangers of prescription drugs to those other than whom it was intended.

Please mark your calendar for Saturday, April 30, 2011. A drop-off site will be in the parking lot of Tigard City Hall located at 13125 SW Hall Blvd. The event will begin at 10 am. and continue until 1 pm. The event in Tigard will be one of hundreds across the United States. As DEA stated, "this will be a bold effort by all law enforcement agencies throughout the country to take a proactive role in eliminating unwanted pharmaceutical drugs from our respective communities." This opportunity also helps to reduce unwanted contaminants into the water and ground that can occur from improperly disposing of pharmaceutical drugs.

What to bring?
  • Expired or unwanted prescription medications
  • Medication from deceased family members
  • Drugs no longer used or that didn't work for you, a family member or pet
  • Unneeded over-the-counter medicines
  • We cannot accept thermometers, syringes or needles, medical waste IV solutions, lotions or creams. Also, medications from nursing homes, doctors' offices or any type of medical facility or business will not be accepted.
