Robbery Suspect in Custody After Attempt to Elude A Tigard Police Lieutenant was able to stop a robbery suspect from fleeing after a reported robbery that occurred at a Tigard coffee shop. The incident began at 11:15 am Friday morning, September 10, 2010 when an employee of the Brewed Awakening Coffee Shop reported being robbed. The shop is located at 11945 SW Pacific Highway in Tigard. The victim told police a female suspect approached the business on foot and made demands for money. A weapon was implied however none was observed by the witness. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash in a vehicle. In the haste of the suspect's rapid departure, several vehicles were struck however none were occupied and no one was injured. After information regarding the robbery was aired over the radio, a Tigard officer spotted the suspect vehicle parked alongside a convenience store located near the intersection of Greenburg Rd. and Shady Ln. in Tigard. While the officer was making contact with the suspect vehicle, the female driver, now identified as Christina Saldana DOB 100981, sped from the parking lot. The suspect was immediately intercepted by a Tigard Police Lieutenant as the vehicle was exiting the parking lot and heading towards Greenburg Rd. The unmarked Tigard Police vehicle rammed the suspect vehicle causing it to come to rest against a utility pole. Neither the Tigard Officer nor suspect was injured. Saldana has been charged with Robbery II. Other charges likely to follow. |
