Pedestrian Injured After Being Struck by Motorcyclist A 53 year-old Portland man was struck by a motorcycle as he crossed Pacific Hwy. in Tigard. The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 pm on August 18th. Northbound Pacific Highway was closed for a short time while the accident was investigated. The pedestrian was transported to OHSU with head injuries, which did not appear life-threatening. According to witness statements, Robert Schiller was seen crossing the roadway on foot when he was struck by a motorcycle as it traveled northbound along Pacific Highway. Schiller was crossing in a non-crosswalk area. Tigard Police issued Schiller a citation for "Failing to yield to a vehicle." The motorcyclist, 28 year-old Douglas Diachuk of Tigard was not cited as it appeared he was operating the motorcycle lawfully. Diachuk was treated for a minor injury at the scene and was released. |
