Program and Service Reductions Implemented in Preparation of FY 2010-11 Budget The City of Tigard announced program reductions effective the end of April. City revenues have not kept pace with the cost of providing services necessitating the reductions. City Manager Craig Prosser stated "It's critical to position Tigard financially to survive until the recovery takes hold. Accordingly, the budget developed for next year will be at a level that can be sustained for two years. Unfortunately, this budget will reduce programs and services in every city department." Reductions are being implemented immediately to generate additional savings. Reductions include the elimination of approximately 17 FTE (full time equivalent) employees through attrition and layoffs, and reduced work hours for selected positions. Service and program priorities were developed based on recent citizen surveys and adopted City Council goals. The City Manager's Proposed Budget will be released April 23, 2010. The first Budget Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Public Works Auditorium at 8777 SW Burnham Street, Tigard. |
