TVF&R Training May Result in Discolored Water for Bull Mountain Residents
During the month of April, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) will be conducting controlled burns on homes slated for demolition on Sunrise Lane, off of Bull Mountain Road & 150th Avenue. This month-long exercise will allow firefighters to practice various firefighting techniques.

During this period, TVF&R will be opening fire hydrants which will discharge a large volume of water from the water system. By discharging a large volume of water through a fire hydrant, water flow within the pipeline is increased. This increased flow scours the inside of the pipeline, removing and then transporting silt and mineral deposits out of the water system.

As this large volume of water moves through water lines and out the hydrant, silt and mineral sediment can cause water to become discolored. Although the water may not be visually appealing, it is safe to drink and continues to meet all federal and state drinking water standards. There is no health hazard associated with the discolored water.

Although Tigard is working with TVF&R to minimize the impact on our customers, some residents may experience periods of discolored water lasting several hours. If you are experiencing discolored water, please contact Sally Mills at 503-718-2604.
