String of Vehicle Break-Ins Overnight Lead to Arrest of Three Juveniles
An observant Tigard resident made a call to Tigard Police overnight reporting several males peering into vehicles along Murdock Ln. in Tigard. Police dispatch received the call at approximately 2:00 a.m. Within minutes Tigard Police officers arrived in the area of SW Murdock Ln. near 105th and quickly observed some movement of subjects inside a parked gold- colored sedan. The windows were heavy with condensation which obscured the actions taking place inside.

Inside the vehicle, officers located three juveniles in ages ranging from 14 to 16 years old. After interviewing the trio, police learned they allegedly may have attempted or unlawfully entered as many as ten vehicles in the area earlier that night. Tigard Officers were able to locate some of the vehicles which were entered based on information provided during interviews with the suspects. Police worked to notify the victims, but others remained unidentified.

Police confiscated numerous items which the suspects had in their possession. Electronic items such as a navigational device and "I-pod," along with tools, knives and other personal effects which appeared to have been taken from vehicles throughout the night.

Police are asking anyone who suspects their vehicle may have been unlawfully entered overnight, to contact the non-emergency police dispatch at 503-629-0111. Since the suspects moved around the area on foot during their escapades, the affected area involved may be limited to about a half mile radius from the location where the suspects were detained.

One of the juveniles was lodged at Donald E. Long in Portland and is charged with Theft II and Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle. The other two juveniles were issued citations and referred to the Washington County Juvenile Department. Their charges also included the addition of Criminal Mischief II. The pair was later released to a parent.
