Metro Awarded the City of Tigard a $1 Million Grant to Purchase the Summer Creek Property
Metro awarded the City of Tigard a $1 million grant to assist with purchasing 43 acres of property known as the Summer Creek Property. This grant represents approximately 19% of the purchase price. This property is a high-profile natural area; it is considered the best remaining unprotected land in Tigard and will soon be the City's second largest park.

This site has functioned as an outdoor lab for students at Fowler Middle School. Now the environmental education programs will be expanded to include students throughout Washington County and the whole community with the help of several community partners.

"It is great to have Metro as a partner in the acquisition of the Summer Creek Property. This park, especially with its diverse natural areas, will be an asset to the whole community for years to come," said Parks and Facilities Manager Steve Martin.
