Fight Identity Theft - Tigard Police Offers Free Shredding
The Tigard Police Department in partnership with Pride Recycling will be
sponsoring a "community shred" on Saturday, April 17, 2010. The event will run from
9 am until noon or until the truck reaches capacity. This is an excellent opportunity to securely dispose of household documents and other materials containing sensitive information. Shredding paperwork can reduce the elements of identity theft. Information released from the Oregon Attorney General noted Oregon ranked 15th in the nation regarding the growth of reported incidents of identity theft. Many incidents could have been averted if precautions were taken to reduce elements of personal data being available to identity theft criminals. The upcoming event allows citizens the opportunity to have their confidential documents destroyed, free of charge, by one of Pride Recycling trained customer service representatives. Pride Recycling document destruction trucks contain cutting-edge technology that can handle the task. Start gathering your materials that you would like to dispose of, however please limit your volume to no more than two bags or boxes that can be easily transported or carried. The event will take place in the parking lot at Tigard City Hall, 13125 SW Hall Blvd. In addition, why not consider bringing along a non-perishable food item to donate to the local outlet of the Oregon Food Bank. A representative will be on hand to collect items on behalf of the St. Anthony Food Pantry which helps under-served Tigard area residents. |
