Four Tigard Officers Promoted Tigard Police Chief, Alan Orr is pleased to announce that four Tigard Police Officers will be promoted to rank of sergeant. The promotions are a result of vacancies created due to recent changes to the command staff structure. Since the promotional process announcement last month, a total of ten interested candidates had met all the requirements for consideration and expressed their intent to move into the supervisory role of sergeant. Part of the selection process required participation in an all-day assessment center held earlier this week which is designed to test the skills of the applicants. Community members and law enforcement professionals from both within and outside the Tigard Police Department participated as evaluators during the day long testing. The newly selected sergeants include David Frisendahl. Officer Frisendahl is currently assigned to the traffic unit. Frisendahl has been a police officer for 20 years and the past 15 with the Tigard Police Department. James McDonald will move from his current position of School Resource Officer to patrol sergeant. McDonald began his law enforcement career with Tigard Police in 2001. Also promoted is Leigh Erickson who began his career in law enforcement in 2004. Erickson had been previously assigned to the Detective Unit in 2008. Jeff Lain is the fourth officer promoted to rank of sergeant. Lain began working with the Tigard Police Department in 1998. While assigned to the patrol division, Lain also served on special temporary assignments including Transit Police. Comments provided by the evaluators indicated all four of the officers selected displayed impressive talents that will serve well not only the Tigard Police Department; but the entire City of Tigard. The mission of the Tigard Police Department is "to strive to create the highest level of livability possible by working with our citizens to preserve and protect life, liberty and property." The four newly promoted sergeants are committed to further emulate the department's mission by continuing to provide the best possible and professional police services to the community. Congratulations to them all. |
