Get Connected at the Neighborhood Network Open House
Tigard residents are invited to "Get Connected" at the third annual Neighborhood Network Open House on Saturday, February 6, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.Making the connection to community resources is the theme for this year's event at the Tigard Public Library's Community Room. "We will be offering many pathways to information and involvement," says Dianna Weston, Tigard Events Coordinator. "From logging on to neighborhood web sites to finding out about dispute mediation, this is a great one-stop way to connect to resources." Launched in 2006, the Neighborhood Network program is designed to provide opportunities for citizens to communicate with the City and each other. Each of the 13 Neighborhoods will form a Steering Committee to gather input on ideas for neighborhood beautification, clean-up activities or events. They will also serve as a conduit for residents to raise issues or concerns. Joanne Bengtson, who coordinates the Neighborhood Network for the City of Tigard, says, "Every great neighborhood program needs great community feedback and that's what the Steering Committees were designed to provide." Representatives from the U.S. Census, the Neighborhood Watch, Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.), Capital Improvement Program and Tigard Turns the Tide will also be on hand to answer questions and listen to concerns.
