New Tigard Police Command Staff Reshapes Department
At the November 24 Tigard City Council meeting, the Tigard Police Department's newest Police Chief will take the official oath of office. Alan Orr was appointed by Tigard City Manager, Craig Prosser last month to fill that key law enforcement role. Chief Orr will be sworn in by outgoing Police Chief, Bill Dickinson. Dickinson retired from the Department on August 31st. Chief Orr has been in command of the Department since Dickinson's departure.

At the same meeting, three other command staff members of the Tigard Police Department will also be sworn in. Michael Bell, who was appointed Assistant Chief of Police by Chief Orr, will take his oath of office. Further, two new police captains, Jim de Sully and Robert Rogers will also take their oath of office for their recent promotions.

As a result of the recent appointments and promotions, it is expected that several other Tigard Police Department members will soon likely raise the ranks to both Sergeant and Lieutenant positions created by the vacancies for the newly promoted command staff.
