Tigard Water Service Area Experiences Tinted Drinking Water
Many Tigard Water Service Area (TWSA) residents are noticing a slight change in the color of their drinking water this fall season. The change in color is normal during this time of the year as TWSA residents begin to receive all their drinking water from the unfiltered Bull Run water supply system.

This unusual tint in the water results from the first flush of organic material from vegetation that has been washed from the forest floor and stream channels. The flush of these materials ends up in the drinking water reservoirs in the Bull Run watershed. To help mitigate the color situation, groundwater is currently being blended with the Bull Run water supply.

No health hazards are associated with the discolored water. The color only affects what the water looks like while the taste and water quality continue to be outstanding. Tigard routinely monitors for all water quality standards and continues to meet all state and federal requirements.

As the water provider for the Tigard Water Service Area, the City of Tigard is responsible for providing a clean, safe, dependable supply of drinking water to the residents of Durham, King City, two-thirds of Tigard, and the Tigard Water District.
