Tigard Police Sex Abuse Investigation May Involve Additional Victims
Craig-Daniel-Smith Tigard Police Detectives believe that their investigation into alleged sex abuse involving a 28-year-old female may reveal additional victims. On August 24th, Milwaukie Police Department arrested 28-year-old Craig Daniel Smith. Earlier, a Washington County Grand Jury indicted Smith on charges of Rape I, Sex Abuse I and two counts of Unlawful Sexual Penetration.

Tigard Police detectives began an investigation in August based on a report by a Portland-area woman. The victim told police of unwanted sexual contact by Smith while at a friend's home in Tigard and did not consent to Smith's advances. During the course of the investigation, Tigard Police obtained a search warrant which yielded images contained in a cell phone belonging to Smith. The photos depicted women in compromised scenarios that suggest an invasion of personal privacy. Investigators question whether the women appearing in the images stored on the phone were aware they were being photographed. A host of images appear to indicate some of the women may have been incoherent or possibly intoxicated and unknowing of their surroundings or activity taking place at the time.

If anyone suspects involvement in suspicious circumstances connected to the suspect, they are asked to contact Tigard Police Detective Leigh Erickson at 503-718-2577.
