SUV Crashes Into TVF&R Heavy Rescue Vehicle-SUV Driver Arrested For DUII
On Monday, August 10, 2009, Tigard Police were called to a motor vehicle crash at approximately 8:10 p.m. Upon arriving Tigard Police Officers observed an older model Ford Bronco with extensive damages that came to a rest near a TVF&R Heavy Rescue vehicle. The crash occurred near the intersection of SW Burnham St. and Hall Blvd., moments after the fire apparatus left the fire station enroute to an emergency call.

A 46 year female passenger in the Bronco was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV, 69 year old Edward L Reid of Tigard, was uninjured. Reid was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving and Assault IV. Reid had a blood alcohol level of 0.14, nearly twice the legal limit in Oregon. Reid was transported and lodged in the Washington County Jail.

The three TVF&R personnel aboard the rescue apparatus were uninjured. The majority of the damage to the heavy rescue vehicle occurred on the driver's side affecting compartments as well as the frame of the vehicle. The impact from the crash actually moved the 40,000+ pound rescue several feet.
