Rabbits Discovered In Tigard Hotel Room
An employee of a Tigard extended stay business contacted Tigard Police on Tuesday afternoon to report observing rabbits caged in a hotel room. The call came from Homestead Suites located at 13009 SW 68th Pkwy in Tigard at approximately 2:50 pm. The discovery came as a result of an employee conducting maintenance on the property.

Tigard Police Officers had to forcibly enter the room. Once inside they found it occupied by Miriam Sakewitz, DOB 041062. Police also observed several cages and a small kennel housing rabbits along with other rabbits roaming the hotel room. Washington County Animal Services were called to assist with the confiscation of the animals. Eight adult and five baby rabbits were ultimately taken into possession by Animal Services. One dead baby rabbit was also located.

Sakewitz was taken into custody by Tigard Police Officers on a Parole Violation detainer. Sakewitz had violated terms of her probation which included having prohibited contact with animals. Sakewitz was transported to the Washington County Jail and lodged.
