Rash of Burglaries in Tigard Neighborhood-Two Juveniles Arrested
Five Tigard homes reported being burglarized during the day on Monday afternoon. The victims of the burglaries contacted Tigard Police upon discovering someone had entered their home and removed property. The burglaries had occurred sometime between noon and 2 pm. All of the homes involved are within a half-mile radius of the intersection of SW Durham Rd. and Hall Blvd.
One of the victims encountered two juveniles who were attempting to remove a window screen from her home. Upon confronting the two boys, they both fled. The victim then called police and reported the incident. At about the same time, Tigard Police began receiving multiple calls reporting a home burglary. A Tigard Police Officer was able to determine two suspects after obtaining helpful witness statements along with an accurate description from the homeowner who encountered the two boys earlier that afternoon. The officer ultimately was able to identify the two boys with the help of photographs of students attending a local middle school. The victim was able to make positive identification.
The officers contacted both fourteen year old boys and their parents later that same afternoon. Tigard Police was also able to recover all the property taken in the burglaries which included considerable gaming systems, multiple I-Pods, eight laptops and some shoes. The property was later returned to all the victims.
The two boys were referred to the Washington County Juvenile Department for further processing.
