Fight Identity Theft! Shred Your Stuff!
The Tigard Police Department, in partnership with Pride Disposal, will be sponsoring a
community shred on Saturday, April 25th. The event will run from 9 a.m. until noon or when the truck reaches capacity. This is an excellent opportunity to securely dispose of household or small business documents and other materials containing sensitive information. Shredding paperwork and computer disks effectively can reduce the elements of identity theft. Information released from the Oregon Attorney General noted Oregon ranked 15th in the nation regarding the growth of reported incidents of identity theft. Many incidents could have been averted if precautions were taken to reduce elements of personal data being available to criminals. The upcoming event allows citizens the opportunity to have their confidential documents destroyed free of charge by one of Pride Disposal's trained representatives. Whether it's small business documents you no longer need or personal papers you want destroyed, Pride Disposal document destruction trucks contain cutting-edge proprietary technology that can handle the task. For years, law enforcement officials have been stressing the importance of safeguarding personal information and to take precautions when disposing of such materials. Start gathering materials that you would like to dispose of, however please limit your volume to no more than three bags or boxes that can be carried. Tigard Police will have personnel on hand to help unload and transport the materials to the truck for shredding. Also, anyone can choose to watch as their documents are being destroyed. The event will take place in the parking lot at Tigard City Hall, 13125 SW Hall Blvd. Tigard Police will be on hand to direct vehicles to the drop-off location. In addition, please consider bringing along a non-perishable food item or two. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with the collection which benefits the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. As part of the Oregon Food Bank, they provide food to Tigard area residents in need. ![]() |
