This Ain't Your Granny's Toilet:
High Efficiency Toilet Reimbursement
Tigard water customers can receive up to a $150 reimbursement on their water bill by replacing and recycling their water-guzzling toilets with new WaterSense models. Older toilets using 1.6 gallons per flush or more qualify for the reimbursement.

Selecting a new, water-efficient toilet is easy thanks to the Environmental Protection Agency's WaterSense labeling system. To earn the WaterSense certification, toilets must meet rigorous performance standards while using no more than 1.28 gallons per flush.

Older toilets can use 3.5, five, or even seven gallons of water with every flush. That's a lot of water, especially when you consider the number of people in a household and how often the toilet is flushed - five times per person, per day, according to national estimates.

For reimbursement details and eligibility requirements, visit www.tigard-or.gov/water or contact City of Tigard Environmental Program Coordinator Jennifer Joe at 503.718.2599.

The City of Tigard is the water provider for the cities of Durham, King City, two-thirds of Tigard and unincorporated areas to the south and west of Tigard.
