Wednesday evening, January 21st, two members of the community were sworn-in as Tigard Police Reserve Officers. Joni Pesterfield, 23, and Morgan Rudisill, 30, were officially welcomed by Chief Bill Dickinson during the ceremony conducted at the Tigard Police Department. Members of the Tigard Police including Explorers, as well as family and friends of the two newest reserve officers were on hand for the event. Both women successfully tested and surpassed the qualifications necessary to begin their 300 plus hours of training at the Washington County Reserve Officer Academy scheduled to begin on February 17th. Both women are expected to complete the training program in July. Rudisill graduated from David Douglas High School in Portland and continued her education until she received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Phoenix. Rudisill currently is an Assistant Manager for Kohl's. Pesterfield was born in Oregon and attended Churchill High School in Eugene. She also attended Lane Community College. She is currently employed with Washington Square Security. The Tigard Police Reserve Officer program recruits citizens interested in this unique scope of volunteer work. Reserve officers supplement and support the Patrol Division field forces, performing duties regularly carried out in the division.
