The father of a fifteen year old Tigard boy contacted Tigard Police Sunday night and reported his son was attacked. The father advised police that his son was alone and walking their family dog in the 11600 block of SW Tigard St. at approximately 9:45 pm Sunday evening. The victim stated as he walked along Tigard St. he was approached by a stranger carrying a metal fireplace poker. It immediately became apparent to the boy that he was going to harmed after the suspect announced that he was going to "rob him." Quick thinking, the victim ran onto the nearest front porch of a home nearby in efforts to possibly make the suspect think it was the boy's home. The suspect followed behind however and began striking the boy with the metal instrument. The suspect continued to strike the boy while standing on the porch of the home. Inside, the homeowner heard sounds and when checking, observed someone running from the porch. Police were not notified. The suspect ultimately ran off and the boy then ran home. Once there, the boy's father contacted 9-1-1 to report the robbery and injuries to his son. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. He sustained substantial wounds to his head and abdomen caused by the metal poker striking him. He was later released. The suspect is described as approximately 18-20 years old. He was wearing a dark colored winter coat with a hood at the time of the incident. The victim recalled the suspect was approximately 5' 10' tall with short hair. He was wearing glasses as well. If anyone has information which may be helpful to the investigation, they are asked to contact Tigard Police Detective David Hockin at 503-718-2553. |
