Tigard Police Catch Two Thieves in Act
Two observant homeowners are credited for helping police catch two men entering vehicles and stealing property. The pair allegedly entered into at least ten vehicles. The witnesses made a call to 9-1-1 at about 1:25 a.m. this morning while observing two men suspiciously walking along SW Windsor Ct. in Tigard. The pair was observed getting in and out of several vehicles within viewpoint of the witnesses. A Tigard Officer in the area surprised the pair as they were exiting a vehicle not belonging to them. One man, Corey Michael Anderson DOB022588 was immediately detained while the other ran off. Other Tigard Officers arrived on scene within moments and began searching for the second suspect and checking for evidence and potential victims.

A K9 search was conducted and led officers to an area along a creek in a nearby wooded area. The second suspect, Shawn Allan Anderson DOB061190, was ultimately located in a residence where he was staying close to the area where the dog led officers. The two brothers were then lodged at the Washington County Jail. Both were charged with ten counts of UEMV along with Theft I and 3 counts of both Theft II and Theft III. They will await arraignment later today.

Police spent most of the night contacting known victims in the areas targeted along SW 106th, Windsor Ct. and Windsor Pl. in Tigard. Police also located a backpack in the area appearing to contain all the property taken from victims' vehicles throughout the night. An assortment of electronic items, cash, clothing and cd's were found. Police noted that most, if not all the vehicles entered were unlocked. Police strongly recommend that owners always check to ensure their vehicles are locked to ward off the potential for being victimized.

Results of this arrest are once again eclipsed by the element of citizens assisting police when suspicious activity is observed. The witnesses knew to watch and report to police once the activity observed became suspicious. Police rely on this shared responsibility in efforts to keep the community safe and to reduce the elements of crime.
