Tigard Police Officer Accepts Transportation Safety Award
The 2008 Oregon Transportation Safety Conference recently recognized Tigard Police Detective Leigh Erickson. The award for "Best in-Car Video" was presented to Detective Erickson at the annual conference that was held this week in Canyonville, Oregon.

Detective Erickson's video depicted a pursuit that occurred on October 27, 2006. At the time while on routine patrol, Detective Erickson spotted a suspect believed to be involved in a bank robbery that had just occurred in Lake Oswego. Even though information originally broadcast depicted a different vehicle, he was able to identify the suspect after a process of elimination. After a 3 ½ minute pursuit beginning in Tigard and ending in Wilsonville, the suspect was apprehended. The incident did not result in any related traffic incidents or injuries.

Detective Erickson has been a member of the Tigard Police Department since 2004. In July 2008 he was promoted from Patrol to Detective in the Investigations Unit.
