Police Partner with Local Business to Help Combat Catalytic Converter Thefts
In the continued efforts to help keep thefts of catalytic converters down, Tigard Police has enlisted the help of a local business, Tyler's Automotive.

Engraving Available

A third opportunity for Toyota SUV or pickup owners to get their catalytic converter engraved and recorded by police is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15th. This free event will take place between 5 and 7 pm at Tyler's Automotive located at 12485 SW Main St. in Tigard. In addition, Tyler's will also offer the engraving on Toyota vehicles that are serviced routinely at the shop if the owner makes the request.

The program is open to only Toyota brand SUVs and pickups. Tyler's' Automotive offered to continue operating the program under the direction of the Tigard Police. Since Tigard Police began to offer the program, thefts of catalytic converters have dramatically declined. Police speculate that the engraving may be acting as the deterrent and possibly unscrupulous metal dealers receiving the stolen vehicle parts may now feel added pressure as well.

For more information on the program, please contact Tigard Police at 503-718-2561.
