Two Men Identified Connected To Recent Bank Scam Tigard Police previously reported an incident that occurred on August 15th at a Wells Fargo Bank located on Washington Square Rd. The incident involved two men positioned near the after hours depository attempting to scam unsuspecting bank customers by posing as "security guards" in efforts to obtain banking deposits. With evidence and witness statements obtained by investigators in the Tigard Police Commercial Crimes Unit, two men were identified and alleged to have been involved in the Tigard incident. It turns out the suspects are currently being held by the Alameda County Sheriff. It appears that both men, a nineteen and twenty year old, were recently arrested by University of California Police at Berkeley on charges of burglarizing a college dorm. University Police conducted a search at the pair's residence in San Francisco and discovered items such as security uniforms, security badges, identification cards and other items suggesting involvement in suspicious or possible criminal activity. University Police sent information about the seized property to law enforcement on the west coast which ultimately filtered down to Tigard Police. With the help of the victims in the Tigard case, both men involved were identified. Subsequently, Tigard Police has filed a report with the Washington County District Attorney for referral to a grand jury. In the meantime, the two men are being held in the Alameda County Sheriff's Jail in Dublin, California on unrelated charges. Photos of evidence seized by University of California Police are available upon request. |
