Tigard Library Book Group Reads Away in February The Tigard Library evening book group will discuss Amy Bloom's gripping new novel Away on Wednesday, February 27 at 7 p.m. In the novel, 22-year-old Lillian Leyb is struggling to make her way in New York City in the mid-1920s. She is a refugee from Russian pogroms that killed her husband, parents and, she believes, her daughter. When she hears that her 3-year-old daughter has been seen alive, Lillian begins a desperate odyssey west to Seattle and north to Alaska to try to make her way back to Russia and her daughter. The evening book group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Grace Tigard Houghton Room on the second floor of the library. New members are always welcome. The Tigard Public Library is located at 13500 S.W. Hall Blvd. For more information about this and other events, visit the library's website at http://www.tigard-or.gov/library/programs_events/ or call 503-684-6537. |
