Tigard Library Programs for Seniors Will Feature Protection from Financial Scams and Reverse Mortgages Seniors are the focus of two programs at the Tigard Public Library in February. Protection from insurance and financial abuse is the subject of the first program on Tuesday, February 12 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Library Community Room. The next day reverse mortgages will be the subject of a presentation by Ann Merritt of Financial Freedom Company. The presentation will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13 in the Library Conference Room on the second floor. On Tuesday Lorna White, consumer advocate from the Oregon State Insurance Division, will discuss how to recognize predatory marketing techniques practiced by some insurance agents and securities brokers; choose appropriate insurance and financial products, and avoid scams. No registration is required for this program. On Wednesday Merritt will speak about the use of reverse mortgages as a way for senior citizens to maintain their independence and stay in their own homes as long as possible. Registration is required for this program because space is limited. To sign up, call 503-684-6537. The Library will host several events for seniors through June. It is located at 13500 SW Hall Blvd. For more information, call 503-684-6537. |
