Motorcyclist Dies After Colliding With Vehicle
A 61 year old man was killed after his motorcycle collided into the rear of a vehicle that was stopped in traffic. The crash occurred at about 2:25 pm today along southbound Hwy 217 just south of the Scholls Ferry Road.

Tigard Police traffic investigators believe the cyclist entered onto the freeway and began to merge into traffic. The cyclist apparently did not notice that traffic had stopped or slowed in the lane into which he attempted to merge. After striking the rear of a vehicle, the cyclist was ejected and came to rest on the roadway. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after LifeFlight landed in the area.

The driver of the vehicle which was struck, was transported by ground to a local hospital for observation.

The southbound lanes of Hwy 217 were closed for two hours. The highway reopened at about 5:30 pm once the scene was cleared.
