Body Found in the Tualatin River near Cook Park
Yesterday at 0955 hours, the Tigard Police Department was dispatched to the boat dock at Cook Park. It was reported by a citizen who was walking in the area, that they found some personal items belonging to a female sitting on the dock, and that there was blood on the dock as well. Assisted by Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue's water rescue team a search of the immediate area and water was conducted. Upon examination of the items located at the scene, the incident was linked to a missing/suicidal person report that had been called in the early hours of the morning. By 1213 hours evidence was located in the water indicating the likelihood of suicide. At 1139 hours dispatch received a cell call from a person canoeing downstream from the Cook Park boat landing who reported finding a body floating in the river. Divers and a detective were dispatched to that location and it was confirmed that this was the missing person.

At this time the deceased name will not be released pending the notification of next of kin.
